We have talked about it for years.

Sugar meets the standard for an addictive substance.

We eat it in the presence of knowledge that it causes us harm. We promise to eat less and cannot.

We have sugar binges.

We use it to “self medicate”, to avoid our feelings or to “reward” us after a hard day even though we know it will cost us later. We tell ourselves its ok and use the ever present addictive pal “denial”.  So now there is research to discuss the addictive nature of sugar.
